JCC Manhattan proudly launches the seventh season of PREformances with Allison Charney on Monday, October 19th at 12:30pm. This unique concert series offers audiences rare opportunities to hear celebrated classical musicians before they perform on the world's most prestigious stages, providing a coveted space for engagement and rehearsal whilst dissolving traditional barriers between performer and audience. In its first six years, PREformances has presented over 80 of today's most important classical musicians, nearly 30 of whom have appeared on the season multiple times.

This year, they are thrilled to welcome New York Philharmonic Music Director, Alan Gilbert, who will conduct an orchestra created for PREformances in a concert on November 23rd featuring works by Beethoven, Verdi, Shostakovich and Strauss with soloists, cellist Kajsa William-Olsson and series founder and curator, soprano, Allison Charney. On December 14th, flutist Carol Wincenc, pianists Pam Goldberg, Len Horovitz and Craig Ketter will join Allison for the fall season's concluding concert.

Season Seven's opening concert on October 19th titled From Rome to Rio will feature two internationally acclaimed mezzo sopranos: Sara Murphy performing excerpts from her upcoming starring role in Un Ballo in Maschera with the Rome Opera and Malena Dayen performing arias from The Marriage of Figaro, El Amor Brujo and Maria Stuarda in preparation for her performances in Rio de Janeiro and Buenos Aires later this year. Concert pianist, Reiko Uchida, will play the Chopin ballade in f-minor. Additionally, series founder and creator, soprano Allison Charney, will sing Beethoven's dramatic concert aria, "Ah, Perfido" in anticipation of her collaboration with Maestro Alan Gilbert on the November PREformances. All of the singers will be accompanied by pianist Craig Ketter.

Funds raised through patron support of the PREformances program will support both The Basser Research Center at the University of Pennsylvania and special programs at The JCC in Manhattan that promote early detection of cancer and care for those living with breast and ovarian cancer. Donations can be made here.
