Cadenza Artists has just announced that violinist and composer Mark O'Connor, acclaimed for his "fire and heart-on-the-sleeve emotional involvement" (Chicago Tribune) and "fabulous instrumental mastery ... to create character, setting, story, and emotion" (Boston Globe), has joined its management roster. The boundary-crossing multiple Grammy Award winner continues to inspire audiences at home and abroad as he forges new paths towards a re-awakening of the violin with an American voice.

An up-and-coming west coast-based agency, Cadenza Artists has already emerged as a major player on the artist management scene, boasting Classical, touring and mixed-media divisions. The company will represent Mark O'Connor, along with his well-established Hot Swing group featuring original guitar virtuoso Frank Vignola; his highly successful An Appalachian Christmas on tour featuring vocalists Carrie Rodriguez and Cia Cherryholmes; as well as two new acts being debuted this year: Mark and Maggie O'Connor - American Classics featuring his wife on violin; and the O'Connor Family Band introducing his son Forrest O'Connor (age 26) on mandolin and vocals.

At age 13, O'Connor was the youngest person ever to win the Grand Master Fiddler Championship in Nashville (a record that still stands) and went on to embrace a myriad of musical styles from bluegrass to Classical, mentored by musical greats like Stéphane Grappelli and Chet Atkins. His well-known composition Appalachia Waltz and his collaboration with Yo-Yo Ma brought him worldwide recognition as a leading proponent of a new American Classical music. Today he offers symphony orchestras his Americana Symphony, composed using his own Appalachia Waltz as the symphony's principle theme. O'Connor's ground-breaking The Fiddle Concerto, has become the most-performed modern violin concerto composed in the last 50 years, with more than 250 performances to date. Today, he offers his equally innovative The Improvised Violin Concerto for orchestras where he invents his entire solo line on stage each performance. O'Connor has melded his music experiences and influences into an entirely American Classical approach to modern string playing.
