Good Noise Vancouver Gospel Choir (GNVGC) presents three uplifting holiday performances of Making Spirits Bright: A Good Noise Gospel Christmas tonight and tomorrow, December 12 and 13, 2014 at 7:30pm, Christ Church Cathedral in Vancouver and Saturday, December 14, 2014 at 3pm, Fraserview MB Church in Richmond. Backed by a powerhouse rhythm section and featuring special guest artist Daniel Lapp on fiddle and trumpet, the celebrated 90-voice choir - led by founding Artistic Director Gail Suderman - shares a heartwarming collection of yuletide carols infused with jazzy grooves, soulful gospel, and funky R&B.

"Christmas is a magnificent time of year to showcase the beauty and power of gospel music," says Gail Suderman, Artistic Director of Good Noise Vancouver Gospel Choir. "For many, the holiday season brings some stress as well as plenty of celebration. Our concerts address both of these: by being an antidote for the former and catalyst for the latter. There is simply no way to sit still or not smile while listening to the infectious, glorious sounds of gospel."

For the first half of Making Spirits Bright, the high-energy choir performs familiar seasonal tunes such as Joy to the World, Angels We Have Heard On High, and O Come All Ye Faithful - alongside a gospel-ized version of Handel's "Hallelujah Chorus" and a smooth jazz version of the Little Drummer Boy, featuring Ingrid Stitt on soprano saxophone. In the program's second half the sounds of New Orleans will ring out when GNVGC is joined on stage by Canadian folk icon, Daniel Lapp, singing and playing trumpet in I Pray On Christmas. The concert concludes with a spectacular, revamped version of the popular calypso song Mary's Boy Child.

The choir will be accompanied by Michael Kalanj on Hammond B3, Laurence Mollerup on bass, Elliot Polsky on drums, Ingrid Stitt on saxophones, and Gail Suderman on piano.

Good Noise Vancouver Gospel Choir (GNVGC) was founded by Artistic Director, Gail Suderman, in 2004. Over the years, the choir has been invited to perform alongside acclaimed artists such as Barbra Streisand, Holly Cole, David Foster, Josh Groban, Jim Byrnes, Dee Daniels, and many more. The choir is renowned for its upbeat and inspiring annual concert season - garnering many sold out performances. In addition, they have recorded two successful CDs - both of which have been nominated for Covenant Awards (Canadian Gospel Music Awards). GNVGC has also appeared on numerous high-profile television shows on CBC, Bravo, Knowledge Network, Global TV, and most recently in a nationally-televised concert that aired as one of six episodes of "Gospel to Go" on Vision TV.

The 90-voice GNVGC has a membership that includes singers from across the Lower Mainland, from the North Shore to Abbotsford and every city and town in between. Members of the choir come from a diversity of faith traditions (or none at all) sharing a common love of singing high caliber gospel and popular music. GNVGC is currently choir-in-residence at one of downtown Vancouver's finest historic venues, Christ Church Cathedral.
