Conrad Tao will replace guest pianist André Watts, who had to cancel due to illness, at this weekend's Utah Symphony performances. Tao will perform Beethoven's Piano Concerto No. 5 as was previously programmed.

Under the baton of guest conductor Hugh Wolff, the Utah Symphony will also perform two works by the great American composer Aaron Copland, "Fanfare for the Common Man" and Symphony No. 3. Tickets, priced from $18 to $69 ($10 for students), for the performances on March 6 and 7 at 8 p. m. in Abravanel Hall are available for purchase throughwww.utahsymphony.org or by calling (801) 355-2787.

Tao has performed with the Utah Symphony on four other occasions in the previous five years. His first performance with the Utah Symphony on the Masterworks Series was in 2010 as a last-minute substitute for Horacio Gutiérrez. He has performed as a piano soloist with orchestras throughout the world including the Philadelphia Orchestra, Russian National Orchestra, Baltimore Symphony, Dallas Symphony, Detroit Symphony, St. Louis Symphony and San Francisco Symphony.

André Watts' management released the following statement regarding his cancellation: "Unfortunately guest soloist André Watts has come down with the flu and is not well enough to travel for this weekend's performances."
