The Buffalo Philharmonic celebrates the American spirit and honors the men and women who have served our country at Star Spangled Pops today, May 27 and tomorrow, May 28.

This is the final concert of the 2015-16 Bank of America Pops Series and will be conducted by Stefan Sanders. The Buffalo Philharmonic Chorus joins the orchestra for this popular event, featuring patriotic favorites by John Phillip Sousa, George M. Cohan, John Williams, and more, culminating with the "Armed Forces Salute."

Current military personnel and veterans are invited to attend the concert free of charge by presenting their military ID at the box office. Those accompanying them will receive a 20 percent discount. In addition, family four-packs (for two adults and two students) are available for $99.

Individuals, businesses, and organizations are invited to join the Buffalo Philharmonic in honoring our veterans and our active duty personnel through the "Honor Our Troops" program. This program recognizes a member of the military via an insert in the program book and a listing on-screen at both performances of the concert. In addition, those participating in the "Honor Our Troops" program receive four tickets to the concert, a 15 percent discount on additional tickets, and other benefits. To learn more, contact Wendy Diina at (716) 242-7826 or wdiina@bpo.org.

"Every year, the Buffalo Philharmonic is privileged to pay tribute to the men and women who served in our military by dedicating our Memorial Day weekend concerts to them," said BPO Director of Marketing and Communications Susan Schwartz. "We hope that many will be our guests for this concert, and accept our deep appreciation for their service."

"Star Spangled Pops" takes place at 10:30 a.m. Friday, May 27 and 8 p.m.Saturday, May 28 at Kleinhans Music Hall, 3 Symphony Circle, Buffalo. Complimentary coffee and doughnuts will be available before the Friday morning concert starting at 9:30 a.m. For tickets, call (716) 885-5000, visit bpo.org, or go to the Kleinhans Box Office.

Since 1940, the orchestra's home has been Kleinhans Music Hall, a National Historic Landmark with a reputation as one of the finest concert halls in the United States. During the tenure of JoAnn Falletta, the BPO has rekindled its history of radio broadcasts and recordings, including the release of 36 new recordings on the Naxos and Beau Fleuve labels.
