Angela Cheng to Headline First Chamber Music Society of Detroit at Oakland University Recital

Angela Cheng visits Oakland University on September 20 to kick off the 2015-2016 Chamber Music Society of Detroit at Oakland University series.

Oakland University's first recital of the 2015-2016 Chamber Music Society of Detroit at Oakland University series features pianist Angela Cheng. She takes the stage at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 20 at Varner Recital Hall.

Ms. Cheng will perform Haydn's Sonata No. 60 in C major, Prokofiev's Sonata No. 2 in D minor, and three works by Chopin: the Polonaise-Fantasie, Op. 61, and Ballade Nos. 1 in G minor and 4 in F minor.

Angela Cheng was a Gold Medalist of the Arthur Rubinstein International Piano Masters Competition, as well as the first Canadian to win the prestigious Montreal International Piano Competition. In addition to regular guest appearances with virtually every orchestra in Canada, Ms. Cheng has performed with the Colorado, Houston, Indianapolis, Saint Louis, San Diego, Utah and Syracuse Symphony Orchestras in the U.S., as well as in Europe and South America.

At the invitation of Pinchas Zukerman, Ms. Cheng has made multiple tours of the U.S. and Canada, South America, Europe, Asia and Australia with the Zukerman Trio and with Pinchas Zukerman. She has been his collaborative pianist, including a recital at the prestigious Saltzberg Festival, and chamber music concerts at the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C, the 92nd Street Y in New York, the Ravinia Festival in Chicago, the Musikverein in Vienna, the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, and St. Petersburg/Stars of the White Nights Festivals.

General admission tickets are $30 and $15 for students. They may be purchased online without service fees at startickets.com or by phone at (800) 585-3737.
