The St. Louis County Library Foundation will present a special Children's Book Week event with popular young adult author Eoin Colfer. Mr. Colfer will appear with a special guest tonight, May 17 at 7:00 p.m. at St. Louis County Library Headquarters, 1640 S. Lindbergh Blvd.

The program is free and open to the public. Books for signing will be available for purchase from Barnes and Noble.

Eoin Colfer's appearances at St. Louis County Library are always a treat, featuring comedy, stage antics and other surprises. This visit will be no different! Mr. Colfer will appear with a mysterious special guest to unveil a new series. "W.A.R.P. Book 1: The Reluctant Assassin" takes the reader on a wild time-traveling ride from Victorian England to our present day.

The W.A.R.P. series features main character Riley, who is reluctantly apprenticed to illusionist Albert Garrick. When Riley is ripped from his time, Garrick follows and will stop at nothing to track down Riley so he can go back to Victorian London where he can literally change the world.

Eoin Colfer is a former elementary school teacher whose Artemis Fowl series has become an international bestseller. His other popular young adult adventure novels include "Half-Moon Investigations," "Airman," and "The Supernaturalist." He is also the author of "Plugged," a suspense thriller for adults. In 2008, Colfer was commissioned to write the sixth installment of the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy series, entitled "And Another Thing..."

St. Louis County Library Foundation's Reading Garden Event Series hosts free family events with authors and musicians. Sponsors include Commerce Bank, Companion, and the Sara Guth Costigan Memorial Fund.

Program sites are accessible. Upon two weeks notice, accommodations will be made for persons with disabilities. Contact St. Louis County Library by phone 314-994-3300 or visit www.slcl.org.
