Women History Reads: Huffington Post Cites Beat Scholar's One and Only: The Untold Story of On the Road

How many women are left behind in literature and deserve their own novel? The Huffington Post recently looked into this phenomenon and recommended Beat scholar Gerald Nicosia's critically-acclaimed One and Only as a remedy to the lack of female-centered literature. Jack Kerouac and Neal Cassady may be the poster boys for the Beat Generation, but without the help from Lu Anne Henderson, On the Road would have been a road not taken and a genre unrecognized. One and Only traces Henderson's life and experiences with Kerouac and Cassady, and the book was also used as inspiration for Kristen Stewart's character in the On the Road film. It is also available as an audiobook on Audible.
