After publishing a number of fictional titles, author Virgil D. Mochel finally decided to pen his very own story."Virgil's Story" (published by Xlibris) traces the author's roots and never lets up on the gas as it gives readers a ride full of humour and drama of Mochel's experiences from the past up to the present.

The first part of Mochel's story focuses on the local circumstances - such as wars, poverty, and a royal decree - that caused each of his courageous ancestors to leave their homeland and to eventually wind up in a small community in Indiana, USA. The second part of the narrative details the life on a farm in that small community; the struggles of the author and his family during the Great Depression and the Second World War- including how the family dealt with the death of two members, killed in the war. Finally, the story gives way to the adventures of the author: from his college education, his marriage, enlistment in the army, graduate school, his jobs and his life with his children and grandchildren.

Personal as it is shared with his family, this account of Mochel's life journey reveals a vast expanse of experiences and emotions that may have been experienced by the readers and their ancestors as well, making this story relatable. Allowing humor and drama to dominate the story, "Virgil's Story" takes readers on a roller coaster ride of Mochel's ancestor stories to present day adventures.

About the Author
Virgil D. Mochel was born in 1930 and reared on a farm near South Bend, Ind. during the Great Depression and World War II, both of which had tremendous influences on his life. In 1972, he, his wife Marian and their three children moved to a small farm where he still enjoys gardening, tending a small apple orchard and raising beef cattle. They have eight grandchildren and one great grandchild. Upon earning a PhD in physical chemistry from the University of Illinois, his professional career has involved molecular structure research and process development. He has published many papers in technical journals, but his real love of writing led him to write hundreds of humorous skits during a 35-year period for an annual "Sweetheart" dinner at his church. He has also written, produced and directed 20 full-length Christmas plays for his church.
