Author Vincent N. Cefalu releases "Leveling the Playing Field in spite of Myself," (published by Xlibris) a consolidation of his previous publications and a revision of his autobiography portrayed in a more explicit manner. In this memoir, the author details how he achieved success despite the limiting circumstances of his youth and his endless battles with bipolar disorder and gross obesity, and the worst opponent of all, against oneself.

Cefalu writes with his casual witty satire in recounting the hardships and hurdles he has encountered through life. Amidst the little privilege he had, he was able to conquer the odds, albeit somehow unusually, and accomplish ultimate success.

"My eventual goal was undoubtedly attributed to my life-long ability of being able to overachieve and outperform," Cefalu shares. "Along with these factors and endless battles with bipolar illness and gross obesity, I managed to convert these deterrents into an incredibly advantageous situation, as I explain how some of the characteristics resulting from my illness actually helped to sustain my drive to success. I feel that my book is a must-read for bipolar individuals who should have no problem in identifying with me."

Reflective and inspiring in its entirety, "Leveling the Playing Field in spite of Myself" is a remarkable reminder of how willpower and an enduring spirit create the positive change in the lives of those who choose to take the risk.
