This weekend, on April 25, two books about Operation Babylift will launch with the 40th Anniversary of the event, which took place in April 1975 with the Fall of Saigon. Angels Flying Out of Hell is a nonfiction account of the journey of 2,000+ orphans from Saigon orphanages to their adoptive homes in the U.S.

In early April 1975, President Ford authorized Operation Babylift, and the U.S. Air Force began the life-saving efforts of evacuating orphans. The effort lasted three weeks before Saigon fell to the Communists. Tragically, the first authorized plane crashed, with more than half of the infants, crewmembers and escorts surviving.

Those three weeks were filled with tragedy and triumph, and this story is full of heroes.

One of those heroes was the Air Force nurse Regina Aune, who served as Chief Medical Officer on that first flight. Aune survived the plane crash and saved countless infants from the wreckage. Blueline Publishing is pleased to announce that we are also publishing the memoir of Regina Aune, which was co-written by one of the infants she saved, who became Aryn Lockhart.

Regina and Aryn will be featured on NPR's Morning Edition about Operation Babylift on Sunday, April 26, the 40th Anniversary of the last Babylift flight from Saigon.

The nonfiction book is Angels Flying Out of Hell: The 7,000-Mile Journey of the Operation Babylift Orphans, by Bette Milleson James.James is available for in-person interviews in Denver, Colorado, April 27-30. The memoir is Operation Babylift: Mission Accomplished, A Memoir of Hope and Healing, by Regina Aune and Aryn Lockhart. Regina is available for in-person interviews in San Antonio, Texas.
