HUDSON, Fla.

Tom Corbett realized that he had four-plus decades of amazing, up-front experiences dealing with some of the most contentious public policy issues in the U.S. He decided to write an accessible memoir of those experiences, a work that might be useful and informative to policy types and the general public. He was most interested in inspiring students to consider doing social policy as a career, whether in academia or government.

"Browsing Through My Candy Store" (published by Xlibris) will take readers on a wild ride over four decades of welfare reform, anti-poverty policy making, and a range of policy issues affecting vulnerable populations. This book is written in a light and accessible style form his perspectives in both academia and government at all levels. It brings policy and policy makers to life with wit and insight, telling about the doing of policy from a perspective seldom seen by those on the outside.

"This book will appeal to readers because it is a true story that deals with critical public issues from an insider's perspective but with wit and a little bit of insight and wisdom. It deals with policies from the local to the national level. And most of all, it is an entertaining story all can enjoy without losing the importance of the topics being addressed," says the author.

"Browsing Through My Candy Store" will make most readers, particularly the young and students to feel that doing public policy might be fun and worthwhile. It will remind them as well not to let the extremism that governs the headlines deter them from getting involved because too much is at stake.
