Children learn about the real spirit of Christmas and the value of caring, sharing and kindness in "The Mystery of the Christmas Thief" (published by AuthorHouse), the new book by Mikala Peters.

When Santa visits We Town on Christmas Eve to deliver presents for all the children, something doesn't seem quite right. He can't put his finger on it, but he gets a tummy ache and a spooky feeling as he makes his way around town dropping off gifts.

The children of We Town wake up bright and early Christmas morning and rush to see what Santa Claus left for them, but delight quickly turns to disappointment when many children discover that their presents have gone missing.

When he hears the children's cries and sobs, Santa sends his helpers to We Town to solve the mystery of the missing packages. Meanwhile, the mayor declares that this year, Christmas Day will also be known as Sharing Day, and the children who did get toys and presents agree to share their gifts with those who didn't.

Filled with colorful illustrations that bring the holiday spirit to life, "The Mystery of the Christmas Thief" introduces important concepts and life lessons. Through a simple, entertaining story, young readers and listeners will learn about selfishness, sharing, the joy of giving and receiving, tempering curiosity with caution, and knowing when it's OK to ask for help.

An excerpt from "The Mystery of the Christmas Thief":

"The Christmas thief said, 'I saw the toys and presents in the hallways and on the front stoops. They were just sitting outside the apartment and house doors. I'm from Me Town. There, everything is locked away behind closed doors. In Me Town, the people are selfish, so we just take things. We never ask. So I just took the toys and presents.'"
