“The Courage of a Samurai: Seven Sword-Sharp Principles for Success,” by Lori Tsugawa Whaley is Released

This new eBook, published on Amazon received International Best Seller Status through a promotional campaign led by the KIDD Marketing group on October 26th, that included reaching number two in Asian History. Other categories in the top 100 included: Politics and Science, Eastern Philosophy, History, Eastern Religions and Sacred Texts, Political Philosophy and more. The book in its print and eBook editions explores her struggle with Traumatic Brain Injury, (TBI), discrimination and life struggles as a Japanese American after World War II.

"There's a Japanese proverb that says: Fall seven times and stand up eight. As long as you're breathing, there is a chance to always overcome your situation. Never give up. Always try your hardest, even if it seems like you're hanging on by a thread. There's that thread that will keep you going. It's about a person's inner core. The principles we live by determine who we are and our future as parents, leaders, and every day people. I always say be kind. It will change the world," says Whaley.

Who were the samurai and how could a people dedicated to war and violence have such an impact on a culture known for its politeness, manners and aesthetic beauty? The ancient samurai (even today) lived by a moral and ethical code known as bushido, or 'the way of the warrior. Bushido comprises the following principles: courage, integrity, benevolence, respect, honesty, honor, and loyalty. "The Courage of a Samurai" presents these principles through the lives of individuals who show us what we can do today to be leaders, to create world change.

Lori Tsugawa Whaley is an author, inspirational speaker, and a descendant of the samurai warrior. A Pacific Northwest native, she graduated with Honors from Portland State University in 1978. Lori is a member of Association of Women Owned Business (AWOB), the Japanese American Citizen League (JACL), U.S.-Japan Council (USJC), Japanese Cultural & Community Center of Washington (JCCCW), the Japan-America Society of the State of Washington (JASSW), and the Camp Harmony Committee.
