The accident that put Tasha Schuh into a wheelchair could have meant the end for many peoples' lives. In her new book "My Last Step Backward" (published by Inspiring Voices), Schuh shows readers how she refused to give up and became a powerful example for anyone struggling to overcome adversity.

Instead of succumbing to her accident and accepting the limits many would claim she would be stuck beneath, Schuh persevered. In "My Last Step Backward" she shows readers her inspiration and her dedication - dedication that brought her to victory in the Miss Wheelchair USA competition.

An excerpt from "My Last Step Backward":

"Just days before her opening night performance in The Wizard of Oz, Tasha Schuh took one step backwards and fell 16 feet through a trap door. Landing on the concrete floor of the historic Sheldon Theatre, she spent the next three days preparing for a surgery that would at best leave her a C-5 quadriplegic. Post-op complications turn Tasha's struggle and ultimate triumph into an unbelievable journey. From loss and grief, to self-discovery and achievement, Tasha's faith, resilience, and honesty have allowed her to leave the old Tasha behind while she confronts the new Tasha's life from a state of the art wheelchair."

"Our society seems hopeless," Schuh says. "All you have to do is turn on the television and see the lack of hope in our families, organizations and even our country as a whole. By providing hope our world will be a better, brighter place."
