In her new book "Artful Grief: A Diary of Healing" (published by Balboa Press) author Sharon Strouse takes readers along the path of her recovery from the death of her daughter.

"Artful Grief" is a mother's memoir, a visual diary of collage making, dreams and meditations created in the aftermath of her 17-year-old daughter's suicide. This decade-long journey around grief's labyrinth is "soul medicine for all survivors of trauma and for the professionals who walk with them."

Strouse's chronicle is different from other books like it because it invites the reader into the heart of trauma by suicide. Each moment is shared with raw immediacy, laid out in letters to Kristin. The decade long creative expression of grief through collage serves as a visual diary and outstanding singular contribution to survivors in search of healing.

"The loss of a child by suicide is traumatic," Strouse says. "I hope that survivors will take comfort in the personal details of my journey and realize that healing is possible."
