FORT LEE, N.J.

For more than 40 years, author and psychologist Sam Menahem, Ph.D., has been integrating music, humor and spirituality into his psychological practices to show clients how they can be happier. In his new book, "The Great Cosmic Lesson Plan: Healing through spirituality, humor and music" (published by Balboa Press), Menahem brings his best practices and tactics to a wider audience in the form of a unique lesson plan.

Organized into two parts, "The Great Cosmic Lesson Plan" explains how happiness is obtained through a gradual shift to spiritual values. In the first part, Menahem details what is needed to find true happiness and how connecting with a Spiritual source of being can help readers find their happiness and peace.

The second part augments from the first, presenting Menahem's messages fictionally through the story of chiropractor Dr. Hans Off. After being bitten by an aardvark, Hans is no longer able to continue his practice and must embark on a spiritual quest to find a new source of happiness in his life.

As a psychologist, Menahem strives to help clients lead richer, more fulfilled and happier lives. He hopes readers will be inspired to do the same by letting go of material wants and embracing the love and beauty around them. Through his book, Menahem aims to promote a philosophy of compassion, forgiveness and healing.

"More stuff doesn't make us happy," Menahem says. "Love, peace and compassion do make us happy."
