Neurosurgeon Danny Tilson is engrossed in a college basketball game when a player gets knocked down, slamming his head on the court. The athlete is his daughter's boyfriend and after suffering a second blow to his head he lies in a coma.

Barbara Ebel's series takes place in Tennessee, where she currently lives in a protected wildlife corridor with her husband and pets.
