As a teenager Rachel G Carrington left home and never looked back. While being the oldest of eleven children, she never shared a personal bond with her younger sisters. Later in life, they hosted "Sister Sessions" which allows the sisters and their daughters to meet each other and talk. It was in those moments that Carrington spoke of her life's multifaceted journey. Due to their sparked interest Carrington decided to write her memoir, "The Early Years".

Throughout "The Early Years" and the rest of Carrington's series, readers learn of Carrington's early teenage years, with references to her childhood, and her life as she meets her husband-to-be, a returning WWII veteran. Throughout reading, individuals will follows their journey as they run into a life of multiple crossroads that turns them in many different directions as they struggle to maintain their relationship, to make a life for themselves and their children.

"In our life we encountered setbacks and disappointments, but found joy and encouragement in the love we shared with one another and our family as we moved toward a life of plenty," Carrington said.
.
Not only is "The Early Years" about love, but it is also a success story of two parents who sacrificed everything they had for their children and, in the end, gradually drew ahead towards achieving their goals. Along with love, Carrington hopes individuals will also learn from the different cultures discussed in the book.

"There are different people everywhere and I know what it's like to have little and to have plenty. Once you experience different cultures, you can truly grasp who that person really is," Carrington said.

The moral of "The Early Years" is that individuals can move mountains if they want to accomplish their desires, are not afraid of hard work, have love in their hearts and have trust in a Higher Being to lead them.
