Sometimes the merits of a body of work rest within the author's ability to build rapport with readers through resonance - an authority established through authenticity felt at once to be insightful, truthful and useful.

Author, poet and contemporary philosopher Dr. Nesha L. Jenkins-Tate says she set out to offer such a body of work in her new book, "Perfecting the Dance: Soulful Lessons about Love, Faith and Courage" (published by Balboa Press).

The book offers readers a medley of crisp essays, epiphanies, affirmations, poetry and prose. Each selection is brief yet deep and rich in inspirational, instructional and practical life lessons. And the lessons are laced with candor and humor.

Jenkins-Tate says that is perhaps why her book seems to be especially popular among millennials who have come of age during this era of social networking, and who prefer information served to them in short, candid and pithy bites.

"Perfecting the Dance" invites its readers to gain new insights about themselves and their relationships as it explores such chapter topics as people-pleasing, parenting, friendships, partnering, love lessons, forgiveness, leadership and discovering one's true purpose in life.

"'Perfecting the Dance' is an easy personal companion of sorts," Jenkins-Tate says. "The reader is encouraged to engage with the book in a manner that best meets the needs of the moment - whether the reader chooses to read it cover-to-cover, according to preferred chapter topics, randomly as a daily devotional reader, or as part of a social group - using it as a springboard for discussions."
