NEWTOWN, Conn., Jan. 20, 2016 /PRNewswire/ Nick Ortner, inspirational speaker, New York Times bestselling author, and CEO of The Tapping Solution LLC, will release The Big Book of Hugs: A Barkley the Bear Story January 21, National Hug Day. The children's book, published by Hay House Inc., is co-authored by Alison Taylor and illustrated by Michelle Polizzi.

As CEO of The Tapping Solution, his mission is to bring into the mainstream an effective, natural healing method known as "Tapping," which combines ancient Chinese acupressure and modern psychology. He was struck by the similarities between Tapping and hugging: "They both connect us to our bodies and provide a plethora of physical and mental health benefits."

The Big Book of Hugs tells the story of Barkley the Bear, who is ready to join the family business of giving hugs and spreading love to everyone in the forest. Papa Bear gives Barkley the confidence to share the love he has by first hugging himself. They then bring readers on a hugging journey through the forest, giving out all kinds of hugs pickle-in-the-middle hugs, group hugs, squeezers, tornado hugs, tree hugs, and of course bear hugs. Barkley also learns that if someone may not want a hug like his porcupine friend you can still hug them "in your mind."

Of the book, bestselling author Kris Carr says, "This book is a sweet reminder about the magical power of hugs. This world would be very different if we all spread the hug love." Bestselling author Tim Ryan says, "The Big Book of Hugs encourages children to stay connected with the most universal technique for showing affection, the hug. A great reminder to parents and children that you can never give too many hugs."

In addition to being an inspirational speaker and healing expert, Ortner is the executive producer of the documentary "The Tapping Solution," and founder of The Tapping Solution Foundation in Newtown, CT, which has helped heal millions of people around the world.
