About the Author

David Meyerhof is a retired middle school teacher who taught for 33 years in the Los Angeles Unified School District. He taught math and science to sixth-grade honors students at Florence Nightingale Middle School. He lives with his wife of 33 years in Burbank, California. His parents escaped from Germany and survived the Holocaust. His father was a physics professor at Stanford University for 43 years. His mother took care of children in Anna Freud's Nursery in London during World War II. David's grandfather, Otto, won the 1922 Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine for discovering the relationship between oxygen consumption and the metabolism of lactic acid in muscles.
