In his recently released book, former Texas A&M president and current University of Missouri Chancellor R. Bowen Loftin provides a compelling, first-person account of all the factors that led to Texas A&M's fascinating, high-stakes journey from the back-stabbing shenanigans of the Big 12 Conference to the stability and equality of the SEC. Filled with all of Loftin's personal memories and perspectives of the entire emotional roller-coaster ride that began in the summer of 2010, "The 100-Year Decision: Texas A&M and the SEC" also features hundreds of media excerpts that take the reader back to the daily drama of the most significant developments. R. Bowen Loftin served as president of Texas A&M from 2010 to 2013 after eight months as interim president and four years as a university vice president assigned as CEO of the university's Galveston campus. He also taught maritime systems engineering at that branch. He has a master's degree and doctorate from Rice University. The 1970 Texas A&M graduate became chancellor at the University of Missouri on Feb. 1, 2014.

Rusty Burson has written 15 other books, most about Texas A&M and Aggie athletics. He covered the university's athletics for more than 20 years as a journalist.
