While adapting to a new home and seeking success in life, Linda Pearl Ramnath experienced a career burnout, lost her memory and her ability to function. Depression sank in; she descended into a pit of despair that threatened to destroy everything she had worked so hard to build. Ramnath was able to rise again and escape the jaws of total defeat. Now, she chronicles how she was saved in an inspirational story of hope, courage and determination. She shows readers that "You Don't Have To Settle For Second Best!"

In her book, the author recounts her journey from South Africa to Australia, her search for new prospects, and her personal triumphs over adversity. Readers get a perspective of her determination to overcome challenges, especially as a migrant. Through her personal experiences, Ramnath hopes to show people why they do not have to settle for second best in their own lives. She shows the reader how she went from a state of turbulence to a state of peace and contentment. The author writes about how she endured emotional, physical and mental extremes which made her want to quit living. Her personal account magnetizes the readers, stimulating their curiosity to learn just how Ramnath prevailed over her battle with clinical depression.

This inspirational account is all the more relevant in this day and age, where mental health issues are being discussed in the media more openly. According to ABC News in Australia, of the 33 OECD nations of the world, Australia is now the second-highest prescriber of anti-depressant medications. Her personal story told with her honest approach, advances the issues faced by these members of society. The author strives to instill in them and their loved ones a message of hope and courage for the future.

"There is nothing impossible in life, just tackle situations from the correct angle. That is what I have learnt!" Ramnath proclaims.
