In the new book, "Shatter Shame and SHINE: Transformational Information and Guidance for Women Silently Struggling with their Issues of Childhood Abuse, Pain, or Trauma, and for Those Who Think They Are Not" (published by Balboa Press), author and certified life coach Maryalice Coleman recounts her personal story of childhood abuse and how she overcame its harrowing effects on her adult life.

Sharing intimate disclosures from her childhood - as well as the processes she has studied, developed and taught over the last 20 years - Coleman makes it clear that even the most painful, traumatic and degrading betrayals can be transformed into sources of strength, courage, determination and joy.

Coleman says "Shatter Shame and SHINE" provides a multi-faceted approach to healing from "the debilitating effects of living a life in perpetual recovery from early victimization," which she calls "living by default." Having found her own life purpose in the process of overcoming the effects of her childhood wounds, Coleman gently guides and inspires readers with effective methods to detach from hidden shame and inner pain, shift focus from dysfunction to purpose, discover a greater reason for being and live a life of compassionate connection, contribution and fulfillment.
