Malcom M. Mayo, a former Baltimore City police officer; US Border Patrol inspector; US Federal Bureau of Narcotics undercover agent; chief of police, Barre Town, Vermont; elected county sheriff, Washington County, Vermont; Gillete, Wyoming, police officer; Baltimore City firefighter; and retired captain, Maryland Division of Corrections, has completed his new book "Different Shades of Blue": a gripping tale of the fine line walked by police officers between what is legal and what is necessary to do in their pursuit of justice.

Mayo has had an extensive law enforcement career and states that "all policemen strive for one thing, to get the bad guys off the street. Sometimes in this endeavor an officer will take some liberties he shouldn't, but in his mind, he is doing it for the overall good."

Published by New York City-based Page Publishing, Malcom M. Mayo's gripping tale of a group of police officers who served together on the vice squad in the Baltimore City Police Department in the1960's, explores the difficult decisions faced in the line of duty. According to Mayo, some of the police officers' names have been changed, and the majority of the incidents described in the book are as they actually happened.

At its core, this book is an examination of what it means to be a police officer, and make daily determinations of what is necessary to enforce laws and ensure that justice is served. Police officers may deem it necessary to take certain liberties within the scope of their job, but sometimes their indiscretions cross the line into illegal activity. It creates a gray area of what conduct is justified because it is for the greater good and what conduct is simply bad behavior.

Readers who wish to experience this gripping work can purchase "Different Shades of Blue" at bookstores everywhere, or online at the Apple iTunes store, Amazon, Google Play or Barnes and Noble.
