TOLONO, Ill.

Author Lynne Proctor Sancken has been writing poems since the age of eight. Publishing her poems has been a bucket-list dream for some time now and finally, with the release of her poetry book, she can finally share them with the reading public.

"The Midwest" (published by Xlibris) is a heartfelt collection of poetry and haikus mainly about living in the flatlands of Illinois. This volume serves as the author's artistic expression of passion and gratitude. It sends inspiring waves of rhythm and rhyme laced with the emotion of her connection with the land around her and the people she loves.

Some of the poems in this volume are about the author's husband and children while the rest is generally about the land. With illustrations of original artwork, this volume will make readers enjoy the beauty of the Midwest.

"If you have an appreciation for rural Illinois, "The Midwest" will resonate with you. My artwork includes ink prints, watercolor, and photography," the author said. She hopes that through this book, readers will appreciate the innate beauty of a land that many do not regard as beautiful and for them to enjoy the pictures as well.
