VICTORIA, Texas

In their quest to continue their study and to share a better knowledge and understanding of a part of Texas that is still somewhat a frontier, authors Louise S. O'Connor and Cecilia Thompson reveal the second volume of their book "Marfa and Presidio County, Texas: A Social, Economic, and Cultural Study 1937 to 2008 Volume Two, 1990-2008" (published by Xlibris).

Volume One related the history of Marfa and Presidio County from its earliest days. The changes were vast as time went on, but it is possible to see how many of the essences of the culture have remained untouched. The preservation of the history of this remarkable county is now becoming popular and although much was lost in an era where survival was still a full time job, enough has been saved to tell the story. Volume Two continues this study of a unique culture. The story will be picked up in 1990 which begins an era of change quite different from its earlier history. From the late 20th century to the present, one will see a frontier come into the modern world.

A case study worth reading, "Marfa and Presidio County, Texas" is an eye-opener for a better understanding of how this small yet historically rich land is what it is now. Packed with the economic, social, and cultural history of Presidio County; this book gives readers, both lay and the historians, a clear and complete picture of the events that lead to the preservation, industrialization, and the improvement of one of the frontiers of the United States of America.
