Leonora, author of "Candy Caper" and "A Colorful Place," teams up with her sister and illustrator, Brenda Burgard, to bring the letters of the alphabet to life in her new children's book, "A Menagerie of Characters" (published by Trafford Publishing). This title has been selected for inclusion in the Gold Seal program, which recognizes excellence in writing and overall potential.

One morning, Mr. Bottomly goes out for his routine stroll and passes the Victoria Zoo. The zookeeper welcomes him and begins their tour, taking him through the alphabet with each animal they visit.

Readers laugh and learn along with Mr. Bottomly as he meets all the animals, from Alfonse the able-bodied anteater to Zachary the zebra with letter Z's from around the world. Mr. Bottomly thanks the zookeeper and promises to return to visit the next day.

Packed with colorful pencil illustrations, "A Menagerie of Characters" teaches young readers the alphabet while providing entertainment. Leonora hopes to instill a love of letters and language in her readers.
