Author Kay Fraser was intrigued by her mother's interesting and extensive spiritual life. She documents the journey of her mother, Peace, away from Christianity and back in her new book, "It's Part of Who I Am: Searching for Spiritual Understanding" (published by Balboa Press AU).

"This is a very personal and open discussion of what it means to journey down the spiritual pathway," Fraser says. "Most of it is written a few months after Peace died and so at times is deeply emotional and heartfelt."

"It's Part of Who I Am" tells the story of one woman, Peace, who relentlessly seeks out spiritual understanding. In the process of telling her mother's story, Fraser embarks on her own spiritual journey. Taking place over 55 years, this book documents the twists and turns that see Peace pursue the teachings of Gurdjieff, Krishnamurti, the Theosophical Society, Co-Freemasonry and Zen Buddhism.

Finally she turns back to the Christian Church. Her return to the church gave rise to many questions and answers between mother and daughter. Whenever Peace was asked why, after all her searching, she had returned to the church she would simply say "It's part of who I am."
