Author Jefri Juwahir tells three short stories of courage and survival in his new book, "Tales from the Black Wolf: A compilation of short stories from the fantasy realm" (published by Trafford Publishing).

"I read a lot of fantasy books when I was younger and had always wanted to write one," Juwahir explains. "Fantasy authors like Margaret Weis, David Eddings and Tolkien had inspired me a lot."

Each unique story in "Tales from the Black Wolf" pits a hero against darkness and is packed with fierce battles and encounters with magical creatures. In the first story, the main character is the hero Kylundir. He narrates the tale, which begins when his band of heroes engages in battle with the forces of Bane, the demon king.

The second story revolves around a warrior named Emelia and her father, Cronus, who travel into the Sacorrum forest to rid it of its curse. In the last story, a prisoner called Drakius goes up against a colossal creature bent on killing him in the Blood Arena.

"I want readers to be able to connect with the main characters and feel as though they are part of the story themselves," Juwahir writes. "I want to encourage the masses in reading, especially the fantasy genre."
