Gilbert, Arizona

Dime Novel Books, an independent publisher of mainstream literary and young adult fiction, today announces the availability of their latest title, "An Ordinary Magic," the debut novel of Jason Thibeault, a local Arizona writer.

Set in a fictional Caribbean town, the story revolves around three men: Panon, the town's priest; Jaime, Panon's teenage son; and Mr. Bougné, a rival priest. With a backdrop of Voodoo and magic realism, the story takes fantastic and unexpected turns as Bougné, Panon, and the entire town battle with Jaime's very soul in the balance. With fortune telling cats, the walking dead, and angry spirits, the fight and the book are anything but ordinary. Employing a deft hand for compelling narrative and an ear for dialogue, Jason has expertly crafted an engaging and exciting story that is thick with allegory, metaphor, and post-modernist undertones.

"This book is more than just an engaging story," says Jason Thibeault. "Written over 20 years ago while I was an undergraduate at the University of California, Irvine, the book tackles powerful topics like pride, identity formation, and redemption all within a tightly bound narrative of literary magic realism. The book forces readers to ask why at every step of the way-not only about the characters and their adventures, but about the book and its conventions as well."

The novel is available in e-book today via Amazon.com with trade paperback and hardcover coming late Spring- http://www.amazon.com/Ordinary-Magic-Jason-Thibeault-ebook/dp/B00TSU8FNM/ A sample can be downloaded or read online from the book website at http://www.anordinarymagic.com.
