James Toscano Releases SURVIVING VIETNAM

James Toscano had longed to have a compilation of poems to be published in a book someday. Toscano fought in Vietnam at age 22, from 1968-1970. Although he had passed away in 2011 at age 64, his wish to have his poems contained in a book has finally happened through the efforts of his sister, Mary Mickelson. In "Surviving Vietnam" (published by iUniverse), Toscano's heartfelt poems illustrate his experiences and feelings while in Vietnam.

This poetry book traces how war can take away the life of a young, healthy, fun-loving guy looking forward to his future, and send him to fight overseas in a foreign land for the U.S. It also exposes the challenges upon returning from the horror of being surrounded by battle, death, fear and pain, how difficult it can be to return to the U.S. and just proceed as if nothing happened.

Containing 32 poems, "Surviving Vietnam" helps those who are suffering to know they are not alone. "These poems helped Jimmy get his feelings out and helped him survive, and his hopes were that they will someday help others who are struggling from the affects of war."

About the Author
James Toscano graduated from Chisholm Senior High School and Hibbing Community College. He went on to attend The University of Minnesota Duluth. He proudly served his country from 1968-1970, winning medals of honor, valor and recognition. Upon his return to the United States, his life had changed forever. Many veterans passed away from cancer, possibly caused by Agent Orange from the jungles of Vietnam, including Toscano at age 64. Recently, his sister was able to make his dream come true. In his honor, she named his poem book, "Surviving Vietnam."
