Jack Overbey, who is no stranger to Appalachia, having been born and raised on a thirty-acre farm in central Kentucky, has completed the new book "John Martin: Mountain Man Extraordinaire": a novel which draws some inspiration from his own transition from farm-life to exploring the country.

Overbey moved from Kentucky at the age of seventeen and began a life of roving from east to west, working in the lumber business, as a baker, and after moving back home to marry his high school sweetheart, served in the US Army as a master sergeant during the Korean War.
