Wexford, Ireland

Even in the midst of pain and suffering, author Gracie Thorne felt the presence of God. In her new memoir, "Dappled Sunshine" (published by AuthorHouse UK), she relates the highs and lows of her and her family's lives.

"You will realize that you are not alone in the world with your own problems," says Thorne, "and the human spirit is wise and powerful and should call on help from God who will comfort and support you no matter what you face."

Moving through Zimbabwe, South Africa and Ireland, "Dappled Sunshine" takes readers on the journey of the Thorne family. Thorne, along with her mischievous brother, "Piglet," experiences joys and tragedies all while learning lessons of hope, perseverance and gratitude.

An excerpt from "Dappled Sunshine":

"'Are you are sheep or a lion?' I ask Tamara.
'I'm not a lion, Mammy,' she states as she places her hand on her hip.
'I'm a girl lion.' I pull her towards me and plant a kiss on her perfect, dimpled cheek.
'She's a little furry sheep,' says a laughing Reece as he picks up his sister and turns her upside down, ignoring her ear-piercing screeching. Her long, thick, curly blonde hair resembles a thick, woolly mop when Reece does this. Once again, memories of Piglet flood back as I see the playful pattern between brother and sister recurring in my children's lives.
'Mam.' Tamara laughs as Reece plonks her back on her feet. 'When
I grow up, I'm going to race sheep.'
'You little punk,' jokes Reece. 'The farmers won't know the difference
between you and the sheep, as you have the same hair.'"
