Author Eric Patrick Danielson explores murder in the midst of war in his new thriller novel, "Murder in Monterey: Deputy Marshal" (published by Archway Publishing).

As the Vietnam War rages on overseas, Phil Burt continues his work at Argos Magazine. When a murder occurs in nearby Salinas, California, Phil is the prime suspect. Three undercover U.S. Marshalls are sent in for further investigation. Dell, Hank and Mabel begin looking for clues. Dell gets a post working for Argos with Phil. The more he gets to know Phil, the more he doubts his guilt. As he comes to believe more and more in Phil's innocence, he goes against protocol to help him avoid a murder charge. Now, he must work to find the real killer who is still lurking somewhere in Salinas.

An excerpt from "Murder in Monterey":

"Dell woke up the next morning and figured Mabel and Hank had gone somewhere. He cooked an omelet and made coffee. After breakfast, after a cigarette, he got to work on his article on Vietnam, which Phil Burt, editor of Argo's magazine, a flesh magazine and journal, was paying $1,000 for. Dell had an appointment with him at two that afternoon."
