COMPTON, Calif. - Author Dooney Jackson believes that many gardens require repair and overcome hindered growth. In her memoir, "Snakes in My Garden" (published by Xlibris), she demonstrates her versatility through telling her life story in glorious metaphors. She hopes to inspire all the Dooneys out there whose voices are unheard to fight and bloom amidst the snakes that thwart their growth.

Jackson has a rollercoaster life. She looks back to her fears and hopes, tears and joys, struggles and successes. With perseverance and determination, she made it out of the rough streets of South Central California. Although as a child, she could never quite grasp certain feelings and meaning behind events that took place in her life until she received a letter penned by her father. Her journey to healing begins when she learned the truth, gathering all the events and experiences she went through, drawing strength from them and moving forward.

"A breaking point caused for a breakthrough in my life, which inspired me to write Snakes in my Garden.' I was at peace on the outside, but felt as if I was having a battle within," Jackson says. "As I penned the story I also released the past. Writing this story became like therapy and each page I wrote the sense of release was felt. There were preserved emotions that required release."

A heartwarming and meaningful read, "Snakes in My Garden" provides readers with inspiration to reach their highest potential and become the best version of themselves despite trials and obstacles.
