Authors Donna and Greg Brown want young readers to admire poetry at the same time as they build an appreciation for the moon and the seasons. In their first poetry book, "A Book of Moons" (published by AuthorHouse), readers are provoked to reflect on the moon's perspective of the world.

This beautifully illustrated poetry collection celebrates the 12 full moons of year, as named by the Algonquin tribes. The twelve poems introduce the names of the full moons together with illustrations that depict vignettes of the seasons.

"A Book of Moons" is the product of the authors' lifelong fascination with the night sky. "The poems are written as musings of the moon, as he watches the earth below," the authors say of their poems.

This poetry book also depicts the typical seasons in the north - the frosty cold of winter, the blossoming of spring, the warmth of summer and the harvests and hunts of fall.

The authors desire children to enjoy poetry reading. "We also wanted children to learn the joys of reading and reciting poetry, which help develop a sense of rhythm and a feel for language."
