During his childhood, author Demetrakis (Jim) Ioannou was fascinated by Greek proverbs and sayings (Paroimies). His desire to pass these ancient proverbs and sayings to non-Greek speaking readers who are interested in them and also interested in the Greek/ Cypriot culture, family values and life in general, prompted him to write "INNER BEAUTY IS WHAT COUNTS" (published by Xlibris AU).

This is an educational/fictional book full of fun and wisdom in which readers can learn all aspects of proverbs, their literal and metaphorical meaning, the way and place they are used and also the actual Greek/Cypriot pronunciation. Ioannou combines all the serious stuff with stories from his own life experience as examples in this book.

"There are no other books that go to that depth in Greek/Cypriot proverbs and be interesting to read like my book," Ioannou says. "This is a book to keep and refer to from time to time. I believe every house library would be enriched by it."

Ioannou considers proverbs to be like the commandments of life, regardless of what era one lives in. In "INNER BEAUTY IS WHAT COUNTS," there is a moral in each proverb that relates to almost every day life and hopes to help readers in their decision making.
