"The Dance": an honest and encouraging testimony of how one family faced the unfaceable; hearing the diagnosis that their teenage daughter had cancer. "The Dance" is the creation of published author, Connie Gabelman, who, along with her husband Mark, resides in a small town just outside of Columbus, Ohio. They are blessed to be provided with so much love and support from their friends, family, and community members who have helped their family during their daughter, Kelly's battle with leukemia.

Published by Christian Faith Publishing, Connie Gabelman's new book offers support and encouragement to other people who are or have watched a loved one dealing with cancer.

Author Connie Gabelman asks "What would happen if your normal life was suddenly turned upside down and inside out? What if one day something happened that made you want to shake your fists at the heavens and shout, 'Why God, why!'"

That is what happened to the Gabelman family when fourteen-year-old Kelly, a vivacious, energetic, and popular freshman in high school was suddenly struck down by every parents' worst nightmare, cancer. Instead of school and church gatherings, high school sporting events, dances and sleepovers, Kelly was suddenly thrust into a world of hospital stays, chemotherapy and radiation. Not exactly how a young girl is supposed to enjoy her teenage years. Kelly's brothers and sister were now faced with the fear of knowing that their sister was going to be facing this future. Not exactly the childhood that had been planned for any of the Gabelman children.

Gabelman concludes asking, "As parents, would you find yourself longing for the days when your kids threw tantrums or got grounded for staying out too late? Would you wonder if you had the strength to get yourself, your child and your family through the ordeal that you knew was about to happen? Would you worry that while taking care of a sick child you might not be able to be the parent you needed to be to your other children?"
