Stella, a young clairvoyant, whose best friend is a Faery named Astrid, must use her gifts to work with the Faeries and Mother Earth to engage people like her to help the environment and the nature spirits. Without aid, the town's distinctive gum tree is in jeopardy, and the nature spirits are fated to die.

The theme of author Claire Horne's book "This Little Light of Mine" (published by Balboa Press AU), is that everyone has the ability to be a clairvoyant like Stella, and that there is a delicate balancing act in nature that needs to maintain equilibrium for the well-being of everyone.

"In a world where we are increasingly conscious of our impact on the natural world, "This Little Light of Mine" reminds us that we must respect the planet we live on, and encourages us to think about our relationship with the environment in deeper ways," Horne says. The book also "encourages people to connect with the spiritual gifts they are all born with, adding meaning and soulfulness to their lives."

An excerpt from "This Little Light of Mine":
Astrid is still chanting, and the colourful balls of light are all around us in the air. One of them comes very close to my face and the first thing I notice is the humming sound, a very fast, faint hum. Then I see the wings - delicately-veined gossamer wings that look like a dragonfly's, glinting in the moonlight and beating so fast that they sound like a hummingbird. I see legs arranged artfully like a ballerina in a lift, one leg hanging straight down, the other bent at the knee, toes pointing gracefully towards the ground. I see a body with a slight grass-green hue to its skin. I see arms hanging loosely in any direction the wind takes them, and I see a head.
