J. R. Woodgates's sudden transition from federal broadcaster to federal felon and prisoner dramatically changed his life, inspiring this comprehensive Christian manual for men living in confinement: "Daily Light on the Prisoner's Path" (published by WestBow Press).

Woodgates counters prisoner dispositions of dread, despair and defiance by telling men how to stop seeing themselves only as condemned criminal outcasts and gain a godly sense of purpose, protection and empowerment as fully forgiven and blessed sons of the Father.

"Because their sins are already forgiven, no one is 'too far gone' to be restored," Woodgates says. "And because they so desperately want to believe what this book says, they respond eagerly to it."

"Daily Light on the Prisoner's Path" features all of the morning and evening Scripture readings for every day of the year contained in the classic "Daily Light" devotional (King James Version). Writing both for the newly incarcerated and longtime prisoners, Woodgates also includes sections on anger, repentance, forgiveness, spiritual warfare, inner healing and outreach to fellow inmates, among other topics, with recommended readings for further study. The addition of relevant poems, prayers and hymns makes this a comprehensive resource.

All proceeds from the book help fund the nonprofit program, Prisoner's Path Books, which provides free copies of this and the recommended resources to prison chaplains upon request.

Praise for "Daily Light on the Prisoner's Path":

"This devotional is a treasure. I wish it had been available to me during my time in prison. To a prisoner it will be a lifeline."

-Pat Nolan, Director, Center for Criminal Justice Reform, Washington, DC, former Vice President, Prison Fellowship and Justice Fellowship
