There is an emerging denominational movement into planting Christian communities and this is what author C. Andrew Doyle explores in his new book, "Small Batch" (published by Xlibris). He discusses how the mission of the future church will be shaped and is presently being shaped by new, small batch communities.

Finding its way into the new millennium, the church is faced with the need to think of its mission as an ancient future Christian community. Small batch communities are popping up across the country with new mission fervor. Locally focused, organic and deeply rooted in the community, they derive their strength from the care they give to local concerns. Doyle surveys the sending churches that are planting greenfield ministries and multiplying churches that are spinning off new contextually oriented mission communities.

This handbook is for individuals interested in the growing movement of planting new Christian communities, providing them with a mix of theology about evangelism, best business practices and stories of people doing ministry. Readers will discover that the gospel will not be deterred by size or economic realities. They will even see the future shape of very diverse Christian mission.

Due to shrinking attendance in Christian churches, "Small Batch" encourages Christians to be creative and heed the call to be missionaries in their local contexts.
