Whole Foods Market is proud to announce the launch of the paperback edition of "Conscious Capitalism: Liberating the Heroic Spirit of Business" (Harvard Business Review Press) by John Mackey, co-founder and co-CEO of Whole Foods Market, and Raj Sisodia, business professor at Babson College, and co-founder of the Conscious Capitalism Institute.

With nearly 90,000 copies shipped globally in all formats since the book's debut in January 2013, this New York Times and Wall Street Journal best-selling book is now available in paperback with a new preface from the authors. The book retails for $18, but it will be available for $13.99 at Whole Foods Market stores. A portion of the profits from all books sold at Whole Foods Market will go to the Whole Planet Foundation, which supports poverty alleviation and entrepreneurship through microcredit in developing countries. Mackey will also donate his royalties to the foundation.

In "Conscious Capitalism," Mackey and Sisodia boldly defend free-market capitalism and the role of business as the ultimate value creator by presenting Conscious Capitalism1-an approach to business that's rooted in higher purpose, serves the interests of all interdependent stakeholders and creates value for society as a whole.

"The Conscious Capitalism movement continues to gain momentum and is inspiring business leaders around the world. These leaders have told us their stories about how 'Conscious Capitalism' changed their thinking, improved their organizations, or set them on a new and better path for the future," said Mackey. "Even more people have expressed appreciation for a framework that puts words to their intuitive sense of how to build a great business."

Mackey and Sisodia highlight this new framework of capitalism for creating added value not just to shareholders, but to all stakeholders-customers, employees, suppliers, communities and the environment. In addition to Whole Foods Market, the book highlights other companies like Google, Nordstrom, Patagonia, Starbucks, and The Container Store, which have adopted Conscious Capitalism as a better way of doing business, resulting in exceptional customer service experiences, lower turnover rates and overhead costs, higher profits, and sustained growth.
