Author Ben Princi has always enjoyed writing. His fondest dream came true with the publication of his debut novel, "The Treeman's Curse" (published by Balboa Press AU), in 2016. In this book, he chronicles a compelling tale of magic, fantasy and adventure.

Two children are lured into a mystical forest in search of their grandmother, not knowing that they are walking into a trap set by an evil empress - the Thorn Queen. Protected by an outcast Treeman and a band of underground creatures, the two children discover that they are the key to completing a quest that can destroy the evil that hunts them. Using a book that contains a series of clues, the children must conquer four challenges that battle each of Mother Nature's four elements to create the only weapon that can defeat the Thorn Queen. However, the earth-powered enchantress has plans of her own that can allow her to build on her realm and become the most powerful creature in the world. Can they stop her?

"I want readers to be entertained by the story and also make the links to the issues and themes within the plot and subplot. I want them to be able to connect with the characters and make connections with the issues they face with their own personal lives," Princi says.

Fast-paced and gripping, "The Treeman's Curse" explores many issues, including the relationship between father and son, taking risks, becoming independent and children's growth and development. It teaches readers that perseverance, risk-taking, teamwork, friendship and guidance can help them achieve anything. It also reminds them about the importance of family.
