When the Rungans were in power, the three ethnic groups lived in harmony with one another. Yet only the Rungans and Wundannas believed in that harmony. As the Lords's lust for power grew, they created a conflict that would soak the rich brown soil red. For centuries, betrayal, bloodshed, mass killings and genocide would defeat the heroism of the Rungans until Haydar Mkomboti, a Djandhis, shakes off the mantle of oppression and galvanizes his people to fight violence with violence. He defeated the oppressor and led the country to peace and justice in democracy.

"Burning the Last Straw" primarily reflects the factual events many have been able to witness and experience today. Using a made up country and ethnic groups, the author thoroughly spun a tale that mirrors the fight of every oppressed country and the shout for justice. Through his close to real characters, Nzeyimana also perfected the craft of conveying the right emotions and his message of democracy, reconciliation and justice for all in this work. About the Author

Lucien Nzeyimana is a graduate of the University of Burundi. His graduation coincided with the military coup that claimed the life of the first democratically elected president, Melchior Ndadaye, members of his government and millions of innocent citizens. His life journey took him into many dangerous situations, escaping certain death on several occasions. After struggling in banana and coffee plantations, where he often slept under the open sky, he had finally had enough. He was determined that his children would live a different life away from hatred and injustice. He sought asylum in neighboring Tanzania before moving to Canada. He worked as teacher in Burundi, Tanzania, and Quebec before joining the transport industry with Diversified Transportation Ltd. He is also the author of "End of Upsetting Games."
