Aureilia Shields always found expressing herself to be a challenge and she discovered that she could achieve this to an extent by creating her own world. Her immense imagination and a driving need to create a world for her own served as compelling inspiration to craft her the first novel of her new series, "Asleep Across the Sea" (published by Xlibris AU). It is a classic adventure with age-old epic themes of good versus evil and love versus hate portrayed through a vast, captivating world home to several races.

Following the wise and ancient race of the Varékiahné, the noble and valiant men and women of Humanity, the loyal and formidable tribe of the Lobothians, the fierce and strong clan of the lion-like Felicians and the beautiful and historically deceitful feathered tribe of the Coquerelle, the stories found within these races address the experience of reconnecting with a loved one and the trials and harsh realities of life that occur in between. In many respects, it is a poetic parallel of reality, meant to embody the physical and emotional strengths and weaknesses readers can all relate to, and although the themes can at times be considered morbid, it ultimately seeks to leave a message of hope, love and strength being triumphant in one way or another.

Through "Asleep Across the Sea," Shields attempts to personify the feelings and emotions many battle with today: those left in the wake of war, those who have lost a loved one in death, those who are strong in spirit but weak in body through no fault of their own and those who are forced to cope with things beyond their control. The former and the experience of rediscovering oneself, reclaiming one's memories and the importance of family are very real to many and somewhat universal. Whatever the reader may be experiencing, this beguiling adventure transports them into a realm of fantasy that is bound to keep them absorbed from first page until last.
