Amanda Samms, a devoted writer and author, has completed her new book "The Other Child": a gripping and potent look into the life of a young girl with an abusive parent, a suicidal brother, and the coping mechanisms she fell prey to.

Published by New York City-based Page Publishing, Amanda Samms's poignant tale is her own life story. She was born in a Mental Institution in 1974 and given up for adoption. The Catholic couple that adopted her had already adopted a boy two years earlier.

This is her struggle with an alcoholic parent, a severely bullied older brother and her own drinking and drug use. After having witnessed her brother's first two suicide attempts at a young age and dealing with a pathological lying alcoholic mother, Amanda turns to self-abuse. Having a gay brother in a Catholic family, with emotional handicaps so bad that he received electro-shock therapy leaves her drowning and alone, "The Other Child".

Readers who wish to experience this mesmerizing work can purchase"The Other Child" at bookstores everywhere, or online at the Apple iTunes store, Amazon, Google Play or Barnes and Noble.
