'Aggie Spirit 101: Greater Love' is Released

The history and reputation of Texas A&M University is marked by an ever-growing number of sacred traditions and rituals. From the Elephant Walk, Fish Camp and Aggie Muster, each timeless custom embodies the 141-year spirit of the school.

Author and Texas A&M alumnus Chaplain Barry Bauerschlag, believes these practices transcend simple superstition and that each Aggie tradition exemplifies core values that are also represented in religious and theological text. Bauerschlag explores these connections in "Aggie Spirit 101: Greater Love."

Bauerschlag analyzes sacred conventions practiced at Texas A&M and links them to ethical and scriptural principles. Additionally, he educates readers about the leadership showcased at Aggieland and how the community's dedication to moral ethics-such as loyalty, honor, integrity, service, hospitality and hard work-can shape a student's character.

About the author
After serving as a Corps of Cadets outfit commander and Ross Volunteer, Barry Bauerschlag graduated a "distinguished student" in Mechanical Engineering, was commissioned an Army officer and married his Aggieland sweetheart, Donna. They raised two outstanding student leader sons and positively influenced many others. He received his Master of Theology degree from Perkins School of Theology at Southern Methodist University where he also did his doctoral studies. His pastoral ministries extended all over Texas and for over four decades. Today, he serves as a volunteer chaplain to many student athletes and Aggie teams.
