Adele Vincent Releases DUST ON A BOWL OF ROSES

Author Adele Vincent worked as a journalist for many years and she tinkered with short stories in her spare time. She has finally taken up the challenge of writing a mystery novel through the publication of "Dust on a Bowl of Roses," (published by Trafford Publishing) an old-fashioned murder mystery with Hestercombe, a beautiful and real English garden as a backdrop.

Julia Dobson, a newly widowed middle-aged woman returns after years abroad to an England that seems much changed from the country where she grew up. She settles in a cottage in Somerset that she inherited from her parents and begins to sort out her future. But after she discovers a body in the nearby famous garden of Hestercombe, she gets caught up in a web of violence that eventually threatens her own life.

"This is an old-fashioned mystery, set in the last years before cell phones, email, the internet and social media changed everything," Vincent says. "Because of the world-changing inventions and norms of the past 35 years, which are having a profound effect on society today, it can be calming, even restorative, to relax with a book set in a different era. What has not changed and is still interesting in the 21st century is the nature of human relationships and family conflicts."

About the Author
Adele Bagnall Vincent is a native Briton who, after Oxford University and seven years at the Observer newspaper in London, moved to New York, where she became a staff writer at the New York Times. There she met her future husband, fellow journalist (and native Briton) Geoffrey Vincent, a widower with two young children. They had a third child before moving to Louisville, Kentucky and the Courier-Journal, where he was a senior editor and she wrote editorials. When her husband retired, they moved to Columbus, where she, in a career shift, worked for the Cummins Engine Company's foundation. Throughout these moves, she kept in touch with life in Britain through family, friends and regular visits back home. She has written several magazine articles and short stories over the years, but this is her first book.
